3rd Party Repeat Prescription Requests EFFECTIVE 1st July 2024

Community Pharmacies, Online Pharmacies, and other Dispensing Contractors (which includes Appliance Contractors) will no longer be able to order Repeat Prescriptions on behalf of our patients effective 01-July-2024. Repeat Prescription requests will need to be made by the patient, a relative, or carer directly to the surgery.

Repeat prescription orders should be made by the patient, a relative or carer/ proxy directly with the GP practice. Repeat prescriptions can be ordered directly from the practice in multiple ways (see: https://www.nhs.uk/nhs-services/prescriptions/how-to-order-a-repeat-prescription/):

  • Online ordering via NHS account via NHS website (see: https://www.nhsapp.service.nhs.uk/login) or NHS APP (see: https://www.nhs.uk/nhs-app/) (preferred) – these requests route directly to the GP for authorisation.
  • In-person – using the FP10 counterfoil, the white tear-off slip, on the right-hand side of the previous prescription – handed into reception staff or repeat prescription box. If your Pharmacy has not provided this as part of the prescription dispense, please request it of them.
  • Letter (post) – ideally, using the FP10 counterfoil, the white tear-off slip, on the right-hand side of the previous prescription – handed into reception staff or repeat prescription box. If your Pharmacy has not provided this as part of the prescription dispense, please request it of them.

If you, as the patient, or you know someone who requires assistance when ordering Repeat Prescriptions please enquire at the surgery our Reception team will be able to assist.

By encouraging all our patients that can order their own repeat prescriptions, time will be freed up in our Dispensaries & Pharmacies to focus on those patients needing additional assistance with their medication. It will also offer you, as the patient, full control over which prescription items are issued each month. This will help to avoid over ordering, stockpiling, waste, and NHS cost of your prescription medicines. It is estimated over £300 million pounds are wasted each year by over-ordering. Please only order repeat medication if you need it.

Please note that the collection, dispensing and delivery of your prescription from Community Pharmacies, Online Pharmacies and Appliance Contractors will remain the same, it is only the Repeat Prescription ordering process that will change.

NEW Patient Adult ADHD referrals “commissioning gap”

Services for Adults with suspected ADHD have very long waits nationally, and our local provider has closed to NEW referrals.

Your GP may not be able to enter into “shared care” arrangements with online/remote/other providers for Adult ADHD care, and therefore may not recommend an NHS referral at all.  Or they may be able to refer to alternative providers “for assessment/diagnosis only”,  but not able to share care for treatment.

Your GP may suggest a referral to the private sector, but would not be expected to enter into “shared care” with private specialists, as the NHS GP.

This is a “commissioning gap” – where the services available on the NHS do not meet the needs of the population – and it has been raised locally and nationally.

You may wish to raise it yourself e.g. with your MP and/or with the ICB [email protected]

Our Digital Assistant

We are now offering all patients an option of support in getting set up and using online apps. The NHS App allows you to complete tasks online without having to ring the surgery, like looking at your medical record and test results, requesting prescriptions, checking your referral and many more!

By using the digital assistant, you will be able to access step by step guides on how to download and/or use functionalities within our online apps.

You can access the digital assistant by opening chat icon in the right hand corner, or alternatively you can click here

Closure of the COVID Pass service

The NHS COVID Pass service will close on Monday 4 December and be unavailable to patients after this date.

There are no longer any domestic requirements to demonstrate vaccination status, and no countries require proof of COVID-19 vaccination as a condition of entry.

Patients can see their COVID-19 vaccination information in their GP health record in the NHS App.
